Club Season
Club season begins with tryouts in early December 2009. Practices start for all teams the second week in December. Tournaments will begin in January 2010 through May 2010. Tournaments will be local and statewide. All AAU teams will play in 6-7 tournaments which are mostly one day, but a couple will be 2-day tournaments. It is the responsibility of the parent to provide transportation, hotels, and meals at all AAU volleyball events.
Practices
Practices are very important to the overall development of the athletes and team. PRACTICES ARE MANDATORY TO QUALIFY FOR GAME COMPETITION. Practice times will vary from team to team. Tentative practice schedules for 2009-2010 will be posted on the web. Please notify your coach before practice if you cannot attend. Parents please do not approach coaches during specified practice times. Communicate with coaches at times other than practices and tournaments. All teams will practice twice a week for a minimum total of 3 hours per week. Our main practice facility will be Deltona High School’s gym but we will use other facilities as necessary. Practice times and locations could change on short notice at times although this is the exception rather than the rule. Practices help coaches decide who will start and play in tournaments, so it is very important athletes make every effort to attend.
Injuries/Medical Conditions
All injuries must be reported to the coach and director(s). The athlete will not be permitted to participate unless written clearance is received from the doctor. Please make your coach aware of any pre-existing condition you may have.
Fundraising
Volusia Volleyball Club offers a club-wide fundraising program through our sponsor ads on our website to help offset club expenses. All athletes are encouraged to approach companies, businesses, and corporations for a $50 donation. In return, the company receives their name and web address listed on our website. 100% of the donation will go directly to the athlete’s club expense. See sponsor information sheet for further details.
Each athlete may conduct fundraisers on their own. All proceeds should be split between members participating in the fundraiser. Examples of fundraising events could include car washes or bake sales.
